School Outreach Services

School Outreach Services puts the core YMCA Character Values into practice through quality and innovative before and after-school programs that inspire youth to realize their fullest potential spiritually, mentally and physically.   Unsupervised youth are at greater risk of experimenting with drugs, engaging in sexual activity, and committing crimes during the critical hours before their parents return home from work.  Our programs keep those students off the streets by offering academic assistance and personal development activities that are both enriching and enjoyable.

School Outreach Services seeks to empower youth to achieve their goals and positively impact the world.  Our comprehensive before and after-school outreach program provides opportunities in the areas of prevention education, academic assistance, arts, and recreation for youth throughout San Diego County. Each school outreach before/after-school program is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the youth who participate at that site. We work with each school’s administration to customize an after-school program that attracts and engages a wide range of students.  All programs are free to program participants.  Some of the major program services include:

·         Academic Assistance & Support

·         Club Activities

·         PRYDE Prevention Education Curriculum

·         Community Service-Learning Projects

·         Field Trips

·         Special Events

Major partners:

School Outreach Services partners with the Santee Collaborative, Safety Wellness Advocacy Coalition, Chula Vista Youth Coalition, Sweetwater School District, Chula Vista Park and Recreation, and South Bay Community Services.
